I appreciate the tone you're ...Well-said, Hank. I appreciate the tone you're taking: "We can work this out." Why can't our so-called leaders see their way to such a point a view? I appreciate the research that went into this, too.
I am genuinely concerned that people like you and me may be becoming powerless when faced with the power of thousands of billionaires, many of whom are so greedy that they'll be perfectly happy to dine tonight on the goose that laid their golden egg. We may be entering the twilight years of our once-great nation.
In my August 15 entry on "Robert Matzkin's Blog," I took a different tack on what may be awry in the health care debate. I would be interested in your take on what I have to say. It may also help to address the hysteria that Marie refers to in her comment.Robert Matzkin, editor.https://www.blogger.com/profile/09590394390364850386noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1897298627535495461.post-88513063321834472122009-10-12T07:45:10.270-04:002009-10-12T07:45:10.270-04:00Hank, you make some great observations. But that ...Hank, you make some great observations. But that dirty word, 'socialism', is going to come up in reference to those programs, whether it's accurate or not. None of the half baked thinkers in this country will look at the successes of those programs, just that they are socialistic. People are hysterical when it comes to this subject, egged on by idiots like Glenn Beck and that horrific 'news' network.

Americans want to have their cake and eat it too. They want everything but they don't want to pay for it. They want free medical care, but they don't want socialism. They just want it, they 'deserve' it, but it has to be 'Murrican!

This is why I hate people. lolMariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10106720865034468249noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1897298627535495461.post-43009390877622862802009-10-11T22:27:26.052-04:002009-10-11T22:27:26.052-04:00Thanks for your insights, Stephanie. Unfortunately, we have an opposition party whose leaders openly call the president a liar and state that their purpose is to "break" him over health care. Bipartisanship will never happen as long as Republicans are more concerned with winning than in doing what's right.

-StephanieAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03437590628070732827noreply@blogger.com
